When the Mirror Lies: Reclaiming the Truth About You

There are days when we stand in front of the mirror—not just the one on the wall, but the invisible ones held up by family, society, social media, and even our past—and we ask:

“Is this really me?”

Sometimes, the reflection feels distorted. Not because you don’t recognize your face, but because what stares back at you is layered with criticism, comparison, and unrealistic expectations.

You see the tired eyes before you see the strength behind them. You notice the stretch marks before you remember the stories your body has carried. You hear the voice of that one person who doubted you before you remember all the times you showed up anyway.

It’s not that you don’t know yourself. It’s that the world keeps trying to convince you to be someone else.

The mirror lies when:

  • You measure your worth by your productivity.

  • You compare your healing timeline to someone else’s highlight reel.

  • You think being “too much” or “not enough” disqualifies you from love, purpose, or rest.

But here’s the truth: you are not a project to be fixed—you are a person to be embraced.

You are the sum of your resilience, your growth, your tenderness, your boundaries. The mirror may only show what’s skin-deep—but you hold galaxies beneath your surface.

So the next time you find yourself questioning who you are, take a breath and remember:

✨ You are more than what others reflect back to you. ✨ You are worthy even when you’re messy. ✨ And you are allowed to redefine who you are, as many times as it takes.

This week, I invite you to look inward before you look outward. Hold up a gentler mirror. One that reflects your truth, not the world’s expectations.

And if you need someone to help you see what’s already there—you're not alone. That’s what healing spaces like this are for.
