Funmi Shodeko
LMHC, NCC, QS
I am a licensed mental health counselor, a national certified counselor, and a qualified supervisor in the State of Florida. I earned a Master’s Degree in Mental Health Counseling from Nova Southeastern University. I have extensive experience in inpatient, outpatient, and residential treatment settings, as well as within the homeless shelter community.
My therapeutic approach is eclectic, integrating various modalities and theories, including motivational interviewing, dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, and solution-focused therapy. This diversity allows me to tailor my approach to each client's unique needs. My passion lies in helping young adults and adults, especially those struggling with substance abuse, behavioral health issues, and identity crises, to find their purpose and lead fulfilling lives.
Being Nigerian by birth and a foreigner at heart, I bring a unique perspective that appeals to individuals navigating the complexities of cultural identity and integration. I work from a place of non-judgment, ensuring that both clients and their families feel heard and can work towards common goals.
I am committed to creating a safe and supportive environment where clients feel comfortable sharing their struggles and triumphs. My goal is to build a strong therapeutic alliance that fosters personal growth, healing, and empowerment. Let us journey together in rediscovering self-compassion, inner strength, and a life worth living.
